Soil & Climate Alliance

We are a community of leaders looking out at the challenges facing our farms, our families and our future and we are responding with solutions.

We call forth hope and leadership on soil health to scale regenerative agriculture and reverse climate change.

At the beginning of 2021, the Regenerative Supply Working Group and the Carbon Farming Innovation Network formally merged to become the Soil & Climate Alliance. The Alliance brings together representatives of the entire agriculture supply chain to work together over the long term for real impact.

We focus on marketplace strategies to rapidly accelerate agricultural system solutions for soil, climate, water, farm economics and food security.

Fall 2020 Meeting Report

We convene twice a year in working meetings in which we share progress, advance our learning, and adapt our priorities to shifting market realities.

Driving Soil Regeneration & Climate Solutions through Shared goals & projects

Members of Soil & Climate Alliance (formerly the Regenerative Supply Working Group and Carbon Farming Innovation Network) co-create market initiatives and supply chain projects in order to transform the agriculture system at speed and scale. We leverage collaboration to achieve big results – for the Alliance, among members on their own projects and initiatives, and with others working toward the same goals.

What we are working on now: Building validation and adoption of advanced soil health management systems to speed regeneration of soils by:

Partnering with leading farmers to develop and publish case studies
Working with leading soil health researchers and practitioners across multiple crops and geographies.

Policy Engagement

What we are working on: Working in collaboration with the American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), the SCA is mapping the policy landscape, at both the State and Federal level, to identify the issues that are of most relevance and impact of supporting Alliance members as well as the supply chain as a whole.

What it is all about: A verifiable outcomes-based standard that measures improvements in soil health and carbon sequestration; created by The Carbon Underground, Green America, Danone North America, Ben & Jerry’s, MegaFood, and over 150 other stakeholders.

SCI provides companies third party verification of climate action and impact and serves as a tool to motivate soil health improvements in supply chains.

What we are working on now: Designing and piloting effective and innovative financing solutions to fund regenerative agriculture AND designing scalable farmer training and support to adopt innovative soil health practices.
